buildings

Ah yes, a freezing morning in February when you have to smash the ice to get to the woodshed so that you can chop some logs. You certainly feel alive!

Buildings
Where would a farmhouse be without its buildings? Fortunately we have a full range - cowshed, dairy, implement sheds, tool sheds, wood stores and tractor shed, amongst others. Anyone involved in the smallholder's lifestyle would be lost without their outbuildings. The whole place can get a bit like a mini industrial estate, particularly if you get serious with metal - welding, cutting, bending, etc.
You need a large implement shed to house and work on vehicles, trailers, rotovators, pumps, generators and the like, and a year's supply of wood can take up a big area, particularly if you are sawing and chopping it. Then there are the buildings for livestock and the feedstore, and, of course, if you are producing items for sale you'll need a building or two for your process.
All these buildings, as well as the farmhouse, need maintaining - so you need another building to store all the necessary kit for the jobs that that entails! It's a bit of a love/hate relationship, you really need them but they take up a good deal of your time and are a lot of work.
Buildings? . . . don't talk to me about buildings! Scaffolding's not small, and all your ladders, including roofing ladders, and your cement mixer, and spare timber and slates, and all your fencing equipment . . .
