Powerhouse This is the control hub of all our renewable energy generation, designed and installed completely by ourselves. Into here come the feeds from both our array of eight solar panels - to our 40amp controller - and our wind turbine. Any excess power is stored in two banks of energy cells. Ammeters allow us to monitor the power generated by each of the four pairs of solar panels and the wind turbine, to ensure that all is working to optimum efficiency, and each bank of energy cells has a condition indicator meter. The power from these cells can be directed to our twin inverters, for use at 240v ac, or to various 12v dc applications via a specially built distribution board. Isolation switches are located at strategic points in both systems, to allow for safe, easy maintenance and expansion - and fuses are in abundance! This building also houses our 6kw generator, which mainly runs off vegetable oil, but we are intending to add a secondary fuel source - biodiesel.
