Greenhouse
We built our greenhouse in the late nineties when the summers were not quite as wet and we were still able to grow some vegetables in the front garden. We were able to grow the more 'slug sensitive' produce in here such as salad greens, carrots, spinach, courgettes and the like. It also meant we got a much better crop of tomatoes and sweetcorn and started us experimenting with peppers, chillis and celery, etc.
Since the majority of our vegetables are now grown in the polytunnel, we now use the greenhouse as a nursery area where we grow things from seed and bring on cuttings of shrubs and trees. We also have small plots of medicinal herbs in here, from which we can make tinctures, oils and ointments.
We have two kiwi fruit trees growing along one wall and in the centre there is a raised wire platform which keeps our trays and pots off the ground and is also used for drying harvested onions.
