Welcome to a very powerful resource on the internet. It's called Wikipedia, and this is just a tiny portal to it.
Wikipedia is a free, internet-based encyclopedia. It's not only free, it's copyright free and its objective is simple - 'The Sum of Human Knowledge'. Anyone can add a new word or topic to the encyclopedia, or edit pages which already exist - it is being built from contributions by anyone who wishes to participate. Contributors are encouraged to site the sources upon which they call for their contribution and there is a system in place for people who may dispute the contents of a particular page.
Here's how our portal works: in the frame opposite is a small selection of words and phrases that are used on this website, or are interesting topics for discussion. Choose one and explore Wikipedia. When you have digested what is offered you can either pick another word from our list or search Wikipedia yourself.
Wikipedia will undoubtedly work in any browser and on most web appliances, and it's available in several different languages.
