29.07.04  The Tent
Over the years we have had quite a few people wanting to camp around the standing stone. This normally doesn't cause any problems, however it has come to our attention that tents do seem to be getting larger. Some are quite enormous nowadays and the area taken up by the guy ropes alone can render this area tricky in the dark, so we have decided to limit the numbers of tents here to two - and not two massive ones either.
Anybody wishing to camp here should also be made aware that the sound of 200 tonnes of water a day tumbling down our hill into the pond beside the stone can sometimes lead to a restless night's sleep.
We have started a project in the back paddock which will be able to accommodate more tents if required.
The tent pictured here is a Gelert Colorado 4, supposedly a four-berth tent, which is six foot high. Two tents of this size, or smaller, are all that can be pitched by the standing stone.
Please also remember that to the people who live here this is a sacred site, so at certain times of the year it is in use and therefore unavailable.
